Things to consider as we reconnect with loved ones

Intellectually I understand that summer and a weird sense of normality is just around the corner, but I almost can’t believe it.

Without spending too much time looking back over the last two years, I will say that this summer is one that I think all of us have been looking forward to for a loooooooooong time.

Being an island nation housing many migrants and their families and with the borders opening up, many will be travelling to either leave these shores to visit loved ones or they will be welcoming them here over the holiday break.

Meeting up with family and friends again after a long time can be great… for the first few days and then for whatever reason things can sometimes turn sour. That is sometimes – not all the time – just how family dynamics play out. I am also not here to tell you what to do in those situations – I am just not qualified!

You during this time of connection with loved ones may also want to use the time to think about upgrading in your career or look for a complete career change. It is normal to do this over the summer break. What I will caution against is to whom you share these ideas and dreams with – because whilst family may have the best intentions – they may not always understand how best to support you during a time of change or even how to support you when in the early stages of just thinking about it.

Someone who I follow on socials is Gary Vaynerchuk and he has written a short and great article about how to deal with negativity over the end of year holiday period.

You can read that article here : https://www.garyvaynerchuk.com/how-to-deal-with-negativity-this-thanksgiving-the-ultimate-clapback/

Another option I would like to offer you here is – when it comes to career changes or upgrades – just talk to us. That way you know the process is in good hands and the conversation kept confidential leaving you to focus on family time and/or connecting with old friends without having to worry about negativity or being judged.

Family and friends are precious. Your dreams and aspirations are too.

Something to think about and we look forward to hearing from you 😉
