Meet the team
Director and Executive Recruitment
Carmen established Emergent in 2002. Leading the way in quality recruitment, Emergent quickly acquired a reputation for quality client and candidate engagements in contracting and permanent roles—for corporate and professional organisations.
Emergent has come a long way and grown significantly since those early days. A Board and management team oversee the company, yet Carmen loves being actively engaged with clients’ businesses and advising some of New Zealand’s top talent. Carmen’s client and personal relationships include CEOs, Chairs and senior HR Executives across New Zealand’s commercial and NFP sectors.
Drawing on close to 30 years’ experience, Carmen also coaches and develops our team and actively mentors and provides career advice to New Zealand’s future business.
Debbie joined our team in 2014 as our Business Support & Legal Consulting Manager. She has over 22 years’ experience working as a recruitment consultant specialising in temporary and contract recruitment in both London and New Zealand. Her speciality is business support and legal recruitment across all sectors. Loving the flexibility and intimacy of a boutique agency, Debbie both leads the division and is responsible for recruiting our incredible Business Support talent.
Having always worked in a demanding and ever changing environment Debbie’s team are particularly good at accommodating and adapting to clients requirements. They look ‘outside the box’ to offer innovative solutions for recruitment challenges.

Debbie moved from London to New Zealand in 2009. She loves spending time with her 2 boys and enjoys everything ‘outdoors’. Debbie loves mountain biking, kayaking and SUP. In quieter times she also enjoys Yoga, reading and food.

Lauren De Witt
Lauren is an experienced executive with a background in Commercial, Business and Project environments, she has a proven ability to operate at both a strategic and operational level. Lauren has spent 15 years as in executive management consulting for tier 1 dual stock exchange listed companies with global footprints. Lauren has a focus on business strategy and optimisation.
She brings to Emergent the operational business structure that supports the recruitment delivery that we are known for. Lauren has a passion for people and cultural integration with strategy and delivery, Emergent with its intimate team and strong work ethic has been a superb match for her skillset.
Jane holds a Diploma in Business in Human Resource Management from Auckland University. She started her career working for one of the largest global recruitment companies, specialising in permanent appointments. Recognising her calling early, Jane was ranked number one internationally after just 18 months in the industry.
Throughout her career she has held management positions at branch level and in sales. Jane’s decision to join Emergent in 2004 was driven by her desire to find a company which reflected her business values. Jane’s client service philosophy revolves around knowing her customers’ businesses intimately and striving for operational excellence with a personal, responsive touch.

sNick joined Emergent in 2005, armed with significant experience from working in the UK recruitment market and a desire to develop long-term relationships with clients. Nick has established a significant reputation across a number of positions. He has managed key accounts for several Fortune 500 companies specialising in the provision of SAP contract consultants on a global basis. He also played a large part in staffing one of London’s largest ever SAP implementations for a leading professional services organisation.
Immigrating to New Zealand and joining Emergent has afforded Nick the opportunity to develop much stronger and more in-depth relationships with a number of key clients. As a Senior Consultant, Nick is responsible for placements in all core business areas as well as industry sectors. He says Emergent has given him the opportunity to broaden his knowledge across all the key disciplines and he is equally competent in providing contractors in Project Management, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain and Human Resources.
Known for his sense of humour in the office, outside of work Nick is a proud, doting dad to his four children.

Head Of Contracting
Hanali started her recruitment life in agency in the late 90’s working on a temp desk when most of the systems were manual and used candidate cards to fill temp roles. After 6 years in agency, she moved inhouse and have worked for not for profits and corporates across different industries including health, emergency services, media, engineering and R&D. When Hanali first started in recruitment someone said to her – “it’s something you will either love or hate; I love it”. She is really interested in peoples motivators and drivers and believes it’s fundamental to being able to connect people to the role and company where they will thrive.
When Hanali’s not working her favourite thing to do is spend time with friends and whanau.

Kate has been working in Account Management and Recruitment for the past 9 years. She has built a trusted name in the market with both candidates and clients recruiting across a broad range of roles from business support, marketing, finance and more. She has a passion for working with people, building relationships and finding solutions. Kate she is proud to be a part of the Emergent team and is now in a leadership role supporting the team of our consultants.
Originally from London, Sukhy has travelled extensively. She has a diverse career background covering many different roles in multiple countries.
Sukhy has been working with Emergent for over five years’ and has a strong business support background. With her background and qualifications Sukhy understands first-hand the requirements of many business support roles, as well as the benefits and challenges of working in them as a permanent or temp employee.

Anna joins the Emergent team with a strong recruitment background, having recruited both in New Zealand and in the UK.
Starting her career with a Bachelor of Education (in primary school teaching), Anna is passionate about helping others succeed. She has worked in both internal and agency recruitment with over 6 years’ experience. Anna loves playing matchmaker for her client and candidates!
Mikaela is an enthusiastic, passionate Recruiter who lives to provide solutions and assist in making a positive impact in peoples’ career moves. Mikaela comes with 2 years of experience within agency, Business Support recruitment. She has built herself up as a reliable consultant who takes pride in understanding both her candidate and client needs.
She has a love for psychology, her degree giving her that insight for joining the dots and matchmaking for a ‘best fit’ solution.

Brodie has a passion for working with people. She graduated with a Bachelor of Communications and Business with a major in Human Resources and completed an internship focusing on recruitment and learning and development.
Brodie initially joined Emergent as a recruitment coordinator and soon found her love for recruitment, building relationships and problem-solving. In her spare time, Brodie is found spending time with friends, families and keeping up to date with all the latest films and music.
Samantha has a background in business support, talent acquisition and compliance in both corporate and agency recruitment. She has worked in varied roles within the hospitality and retail sectors before joining the world of recruitment two and a half years ago.
She has a passion connecting with people and understanding what fulfils them in their career paths. As a graduate in Human Resources Management, she has a vision for supporting businesses to succeed while ensuring that employees are valued. Samantha is collaborative and cheerful in nature.
Jess is a Recruitment Consultant here at Emergent with an interest in building strong administration support for businesses. With a can-do attitude, she’s always willing to go the extra mile for both candidates and clients. She has a passion for helping others, creating networks, and building strong relationships. Jess joins team Emergent after a few years in the FMCG industry focused on moving beverages around the world as an Inventory Manager. Along with a fresh perspective on recruitment, Jess is meticulously organized and brings creativity to the team.
Out of the office, you can find Jess with friends, at the gym or spending time with her pug, Frank!
Danielle is the newest member of the team, she joins us after her experience as a Business Development Manager, she has worked in a range of industries including 12 years in aviation working in client relations, sales management, and administration.
She comes from a strong customer service and business support background, working with people from all over the world. Danielle is enthusiastic and driven, she brings to the Emergent family a breath of experience, which has made her well rounded and versatile addition to the team.
Ella is has brought her experience in co-ordination to the recruitment world. Her people skills and a degree in Tourism Management and Marketing has proven most beneficial. Ella has brought her administration experience, passion to help and talk with others to emerge into Emergent!
In her spare time, you can find Ella exploring the beauty of New Zealand, playing social Netball and Touch Rugby, whilst enjoying time with her friends and family.
Shelbie has started her exciting journey in the recruitment industry, recently graduated university with a Psychology degree, she has a passion for wanting to help people and work with people to reach their full potential. She brings her administration experience, empathy, and compassion to the table to be a valuable member of our administration team.
In her spare time, she loves going to the gym, going for nature walks, and spending quality time with her family, and friends
Nevena comes fresh into the recruitment world, with a background in administration and academia.
She has a love for administration, the structure, dynamic and fast pace of recruitment is what attracted Nevena to join us as an administrator. She enjoys organization and working part of a female run team.
She has a love for literature and food, in her spare time you will find her reading and cooking her favorite meals.
Neesha joined Emergent in 2015 after more than 8 years with one of New Zealand’s iconic international companies. Having previously been a ‘specialist’ accountant in a large corporate Neesha relishes the variety of work in a fast paced company like Emergent – where no two days are the same. Neesha is an all-rounder who keeps the business humming and takes care of the business critical systems such as payroll, accounts and contracts, invoicing and general administration. After-hours she enjoys a quieter lifestyle with her wonderful family.
