We invest in the future of HR

Each year Emergent takes on HR Graduates, offers them valuable work experience and prepares them for the next step in their HR careers. Emergent has hired three Graduates consecutively over the past three years and has placed each of them in to their next roles in the Professional Services, Healthcare and Media industries.

Paula Wilson: 2015

Working at Emergent as part of the 2015 graduate programme gave me my start into my HR career. The exposure to a variety of role types, across so many different industries and organisations, as well of the pace of work were an amazing introduction to working in corporate environment. From Emergent I successfully moved into a full HR Administrator role in a NYSE listed multinational.

Hannah Chitty: 2012 - 2013

I spent 18 months at Emergent after completing a Bachelor of Management Studies (Hons) at the University of Waikato, with Management majors in Human Resources and Strategy. Spending this time working with the team at Emergent was a fantastic opportunity for me to develop my skills and gain some hands on experience while learning from the best! My time at Emergent allowed me to gain an in depth understanding of all things recruitment that I now apply to my new role. Having the opportunity to liaise with a large range of senior candidates and clients, often from high profile organisations, was invaluable with regards to developing my professional skills and confidence. The team then helped me to secure an internal Human Resources role with MercyAscot, one of my favourite clients, and I cannot thank them enough for helping me to get my foot in the door!

Kristy Barrett: 2014 - 2015

I joined Emergent as Administrator in June 2014 after graduating from Auckland University of Technology with a Bachelor of International Hospitality Management majors in Accommodation and Human Resource Management. The Emergent Graduate Programme is a great stepping stone for HR graduates to gain HR administration experience. During my time at Emergent I have gained a wide range of skills that will be truly valuable for me going forward. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working within a fast paced and professional team, where each day is different. Emergent gave me the HR Administration experience I needed to secure my dream position at the New Zealand Police as an HR Assistant.

Hannah Hemsley: 2011 - 2012

I joined Emergent in April 2011 after graduating from the University of Waikato with a Bachelor of Social Sciences (History & Sociology) and a PostGrad in HR & IR. Emergent was a great starting point in my career. One of the most important things I learnt there was the importance of candidate care. (which I have taken with me into my other roles) and what a difference it makes to successful recruitment. Carmen and her team are truly amazing at what they do and were great mentors for my time at Emergent. In March 2012, Emergent placed me into Southern Cross Health Society as their People & Development Co-ordinator, a role which I sat in for two years before deciding to move to Melbourne for a new adventure. I am now giving the Industrial Relations side of my degree a go, working in the HR team for Orora Fibre Packaging (previously Amcor) gaining new experiences within a heavily unionized environment as well as gaining knowledge of Australian employment law. I am loving every minute of it.

Sonia Martin: 2013 - 2014
I joined Emergent in July 2013 after graduating from the University of Waikato with a Bachelor of Management Studies (Hons) with majors in Human Resource Management and Strategic Management. Working at Emergent truly has been a fabulous opportunity for me to get my foot in the door and has given me the start I need for my career in HR. This role has been a great platform for me to gain skills and experience in recruitment and all that it entails and has given me the chance to work with a number of diverse clients, many of whom are high profile, large corporates. My time at Emergent has significantly helped me with transitioning into the next stage of my HR career and has enabled me to secure my next role at TVNZ as HR Advisor. Never would I have thought that I would be lucky enough to land my dream job!
